My new HP48 Handbook by James Donnelly describes an "ESD Monitor" mode that can be activated by the "ON-D" sequence followed by "G" (page 98). This produces a display with the string "ESD 210V 210V" and two short vertical bars below each instance of the "210V" string. This is supposed to indicate the discharge state of the batteries. Sometimes only two bars are displayed. Sometimes one bar is flashing. Can anyone shed some light on how this display can be interpreted? By the way, executing the "ON-D" sequence (depress on and hold, depress D and release, release on) followed by the left arrow (delete) key will display an address. Pressing "EVAL" will display the ROM version of your 48. Regards and thanks...
