and what in the world has been happening with those serial connectors... Well, I've learned lots more about plastic prototyping in the past week than I've ever wanted to know, and also come to the conclusion that nobody but nobody out there makes just the little plastic shells that we need (except, perhaps, the place HP is getting the cables from, and BELIEVE ME, you DON'T want to hear their prices...) I'm currently involved with a local place here in Madison (WI) that does plastic prototyping. It looks as though they're going to be able to make these connectors, but due to the small quantities (in their measure) I want, I'm about dead last on their list of jobs. Also, for what I told them was affordable, these things are not going to look too professional. Just a white rectangle of plastic, with four holes for the pins. Plain, ugly, and useable. But, the pin spacing will be the CORRECT 2mm spacing (the next person I hear say ".100 in" is going to FRY...), and I will be within budget. I realize that some of those people out there who sent me their $$$ long ago (probably about a month ago (?!) by now...) have probably given up hope and gone to HP for their cables. For all of you out there in this boat, I'll gladly refund your money -- just send me a note. If anybody else doesn't want to wait around for these things, you're certainly entitled to your money back. About the only time frame I can give you is the same one given me by the Plastics People -- "By August 20th." That's about it. Anybody with question, comments, or (especially) Rich Uncles, fell free to contact me. My mailer doesn't like your standard address, but by pulling enough info out of the mail headers, I can get it to work. I need a mail header! (Lost the ones from the last machine).
