Since this message hasn't run for just about a month I thought I'd post it again for any new folks who might have missed it before. I have VHS copies of the Chicago area Hewlett Packard handheld user's con- ference, held June 2nd, 1990 at the HP facility in Rolling Meadows, Ill. This conference featured Bill Wickes and Eric Vogel of HP Corvallis, both who worked on the HP48 project. There are two T-160 VHS tapes totalling just under sixteen hours of material from the following: 1. Friday, June 1 - Informal users gathering at Ace Metal Crafts 2. Saturday, June 2 - Formal conference at HP facility 3. Saturday, June 2 - Evening post-conference meeting 4. Sunday, June 2 - Some highlights from the Summer Consumer Electronics Show (held every June at Chicago's McCormick Place) 5. Wednesday, June 6 - Regular Chicago CHIP HP handheld group user meeting Virtually all the material is HP48SX-related. I'm asking $15.00 for the set of 2 tapes (including postage). These have turned out to be a "best-seller", with 24 copies gone out so far. Jake Schwartz 135 Saxby Terrace Cherry Hill, NJ 08003 609-751-1310 home 609-866-6268 work

Re: The videotapes of the 1990 Chicago Users Conference Allow me to post a brief, unsolicited testimonial: watching Jake's videotapes has killed all my rats, cured my headaches, and started my hair growing back in!! :-) But seriously, if you are interested in learning about the history of the development of the 48, and what is already being done with the 48 "on the cutting edge", then these tapes are a real bargain. It sure beats most of the crap on TV. You'll probably end up wanting to order the conference proceedings, containing the written papers from the speakers, and two 5.25" 360K DOS disks containing oodles of 48-related stuff. Does anybody know if copies of the proceedings are still available, and if so, from whom to order them (Jake?). Also, how much $$. steve thomas

I just wanted to mention that the Chicago CHIP group HP Handheld.Conference proceedings are available for $15. postpaid from Jack Stout 1946 N. 18th Ave. Melrose Park, Illinois 60160 708-345-5970 home 708-455-1813 work There is about 120 pages of good material including a really nice treatise on the HP Solve Equation Library ROM card by Eric Vogel, who was one of the three members of the software design team. They also throw in a floppy (360K) of "HP48SX Goodies" which was collected by Joseph Horn in California a week or so before the conference was held. An additional disk of material, dubbed "HP48 SWAP02" was created at the conference itself and distributed to all attendees that evening. If anyone orders the tapes, I'd be glad to throw in a copy of one of the disks for an extra 50 cents or both for an extra buck. If you wish the disk(s) without the tapes, please consider what it'll cost me to mail them ($1.00 extra???). Jake Schwartz
