[comp.sys.handhelds] More connector info

Ego mode: on

Well, I built my first connector/cable assembly this evening. It's great!
My main concern was that the pins wouldn't make firm contract with those in
the 48 itself, but I needn't have worried! The pins are so snug that you can
even let your 48 dangle by the serial cord, and the connector will still stay
in. (Just don't jiggle it! :-) ) Try THAT with one of those mis-aligned
Molex connectors!

Ego mode: off

Anyway, I plan to finish the rest of the little things tomorrow. They'll
go out in the mail on Thursday, and, unless you live in Antartica, you
ought to have them by mid to late next week.

Now a note for everybody who's about to write and say "Quick! Tell me! Are
there any more left?! Where do I send my $1 too!?!?" -- WAIT! I'm only
going to have somewhere between 5-10 connectors left when I get through with
this first batch (there were 100 made... sheesh). I'm not going to have
a chance to think too much about connectors after next week -- I gotta get
back to earning a degree so someday I can design calculators that use
standard plugs for their serial ports... (snicker). So, the best I can
tell you is, feel free to send mail, but it's going to be awhile before
I'll be getting any more. If you're real ambitious, try you local plastic
shops. See if you can talk them into making some of these like I did. :-)

That's about it. I'll post a final message about this first batch as soon
as I stuff them into a mailbox on Thursday. Then I gotta get back to college...
