[comp.sys.handhelds] HP28s problems/questions.

Well I have been typing some programs i got off this net.
and i have a small question.
what does the != mean? i spent 5 min looking for a !
ie a line like 

j a != 

also i got the assembly chacksum running but it gives diffrent check
sums than the old checksum prog.

any general help in typing in all these programs?

well any help is welcomed.
