[comp.sys.handhelds] How to use wuarchive *.a files

3kw@mace.cc.purdue.edu (David R. Zeller) (09/27/90)

In the wuarchive hp48sx directory, there are some files which end
in a .a extension. When you look at the contents of the file, they
resemble the files that I create when I upload the contents of a
variable or directory to my pc from the 48.

The only difference I have found is that my files are turned into the
correct variables/directories when downloaded back to the 48, and thier
files are turned into strings ("HPHP48-A....").

Am I doing something wrong? Is there some thing has to be done to these
files before they are usable?

(An example file would be the file called music.a)

Thanks for any help!

Theese files are binary files, and they will be renamed to have the
extension .bin when they are moved out of the incoming directory.

Is there anybody who offers to create a download guide ? It need only
to be a singlle page or two telling how to download different filetypes.
I will then place this file in the root of the hp48sx directory at
wuarchive, so that everyboddy will see it.

I will when I get the time try to translate all the binary files to ASC
format. This will probably make it easier to get the files to the HP48
