[comp.sys.handhelds] Binary file transfer to Macintosh

ECO8941@ECOSTAT.AAU.DK ("Povl H. Pedersen") (09/30/90)

I have know got the binary file transfer to work on a Macintosh.
I use Kermit 0.98(62) which is newer than the version delivered by HP
in their I/F kits.

To get it work, I had to do the following:
Select "File settings..." under the "Settings" menu.
select the mode "binary" by selecting a radio button.
and finally CHECK THE "Use above defaults for sending too" checkbox.

Without the last step, Kermit is doing binary transfer from the HP,
but will send ASCII only when downloading to the HP48sx.

I also had some problems using the printer port. It always gave me
a lot of errors when the HP48 was working as a server. It was an
error -28 about some wrong clear code. Is there anybody out there with
the same problems? or is my port faulty?

I can use names containing a dot . if I want. To execute binary downloads
you just have to press the key labelled the same as the downloaded file.
