the serial # is 2819A05677 so from what you say it was manufactured on
the 19th week of 1988.  I dont know what the cut-off date is for the
defect but I suppose if your calc. is older you may be in trouble.  Of
course, if it is older you probably have seen the problem by now since
your original batteries may be dead.
