Does anyone know how to connect the IBM PC to a computer running UNIX ? It seems that you can connect them using any standard communications package( XTALK,PCTALK,IBM software etc.) that you can buy for the IBM but the UNIX O/S does not know what type of terminal the IBM PC is. This information is contained in the UNIX variable TERM ,but as the IBM PC is not a standard terminal type, TERM defaults to some other terminal type. This is just fine for UNIX programs that do not use the screen, BUT, for all other programs (e.g. emacs, rogue etc.,etc.) UNIX needs to know the type of terminal it is connected to. Can anyone help me? Please reply in the newsgroup net.micro.pc Thanking you in advance.

It will handle upto 19.2KB without dropping characters. It also has its own TERMCAP entry for working with UNIX.
