[net.micro] Bit slice micros

tucc mentioned that he has some nice pamphlets from Advanced
Micro Devices (AMD) discussing bit-slice microprocessors.
He was also not sure if they are still in print.

Well yes Virginia you can still get them, but in a different
form. The pamphlets have been packaged into a book and
they are availible from McGraw Hill.

John Mick and James Brick, "Bit-Slice Microprocessor Design"
(New York, NY: McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1980)
ISBN 0-07-041781-4

I would heartily recommend the book to anyone interested in
bit-slice processors or in microprogramming.

The AMD bit-slice design series has been consolidated into a hard-back
book entitled `Bit-Slice Microprocessor Design' by Mick and Brick and
published by McGrall Hill. If you want to know about AMD stuff, this
is a good place to start (but since the introduction of the book, most
every AMD part has gotten much faster due to internal use of ECL circuits.).
