[comp.sys.handhelds] How different are the '48 ROMs

akcs.dnickel@hpcvbbs.UUCP (Derek Scott Nickel) (10/27/90)

I was just wondering, has anybody compared the variour versions of the HP
48SX? By this I mean, downloading the memory 00000-7FFFF and generating
a difference report. I guess what I'm really asking is: when doing low
level coding (RPL or ML) what addresses can relied upon. I would guess
anything rthat a Library references is fair game.

I was told by Bill Wickes that the SYSEVAL addresses are preserved from
rev A. This makes bug fixing rather tricky, he observed, but they're
HP, so they can do anything. He did imply that perhaps a very few
SYSEVAL addresses might move, but only becuase those were deemed not
usable from any program other than their callers.
