[comp.sys.handhelds] HP Versions.

jayward@eecs.cs.pdx.edu (Jay Ward) (10/28/90)

How can I check my ROM revision number? I have downloaded a couple
of programs to the HP and they don't seem to work. I guess that If
the versions are incompatible, that would be the problem. I just want
to make sure. Thanks in advance.

Jay,
The version numbers are probably not the problem. But here goes:

     [calculator is on...]
     ON-D
<- (key with Drop/Clear above it)
     EVAL
ON-C to get back (this clears the stack/pict)

Doubtful that the ROM versions would be incompatible. Anything written for
a ROM version A, for example, will run fine on ROM version E. Going the other
direction (from E to A) will give you predictable, documented, if not desirable
results. The "documented" results are in the bug report published on c.s.h
from time to time.

C.s.h has documented several cases of defective file transfer causing programs
to crash. Is there any way you can check your programs (in the 48) against an
"original"? That might help pinpoint the problem.

Good luck.
