Here we go again, folks - Now that people are beginning to receive their free HP Solve Equation Library cards for their HP48's, I thought I should mention that Eric Vogel, head of the software development team for the card at HP's Corvallis, Oregon facility, gave a great presentation on the card at the Chicago HP Handheld User's Conference on June 2, 1990. The talk lasted at least one hour, with excellent demos on usages of most of the card's features, as well as infor- mation on why certain things were done and rationalizations on the design and such. I videotaped the conference (which included Bill Wickes' talks on the HP48 and several related topics) and three peripheral meetings that took place before and afterward. There is a total of 16 hours of videotape, which I've been offering for anyone interested. The stuff is on two 8-hour VHS tapes, along with a three-page detailed description of the content. If you're interested, the pair (including postage) is $15. This set has been a useful way of getting a feel for what has gone into designing the products we're now enjoying, in addition to learning about the early achievements of users who had the calculator for a few months up to that point.
