[comp.sys.handhelds] Help with kermit-ing to SUNs

ksr1492@cec1.wustl.edu (Kevin Scott Ruland) (11/08/90)

I am trying to connect my 48 directly to the ttya port of a
SUN 4/260. I have down loaded a terminal emulator (2.1 I believe)
and while running it I can log on, change directories, and enter
kermit. Now I am stuck. I've tried putting the SUN in server,
breaking out of term, and using KGET to download. But that didn't
work. The HP's kermit kept trying to connect but failed. Then
I tried to send from the SUN and use the <lshift><delete> key
upon which term executes RECV. Same result.

Could this be because of different check sums?

Some background. I used to have the ttya port connected to a switch
box. One port of the switch box went to a microterm terminal, the other
to my HP. I would log on, and enter kermit in server mode through
the terminal, switch the box so my hp was connected directly to ttya.
Then use the KGET command to download. This worked just fine.
Unfortunately, due to the premium on desk space and the recent purchase
of some new SUN SLC's we had to get rid of the microterm.

If any one has any idea what I'm doing wrong, or any ideas about
how I might do this, please mail me or post.

thanks
