Greetings, COMP.SYS.HANDHELDS and the HANDHELDS@GAC.EDU | HANDHELDS@GACVAX1.BITNET mailing list are connected again. MAIL sent to the HANDHELDS mailing list is posted to the USENET group COMP.SYS.HANDHELDS and items posted to COMP.SYS.HANDHELDS will be mailed to all the members of the HANDHELDS mailing list. The HANDHELDS mailing list used to be run out of SRI.EDU, and was gated to COMP.SYS.HANDHELDS. The list manager at SRI deceided to discontinue the mailing list, and asked for volunteers to take it over. When Tom Huber (HUBER@GAC.EDU) and I took over the list we discovered that we would have to rebuld the gateway between the mailing and USENET. This has taken a few weeks, and now it is finished. During the period between the time we took over the list and we got the gateway running again, there was a one way gateway between the mailing list and the newsgroup, but it did not work the other way. I would like to ask all users of the HANDHELDS mailing list to observe USENET rules when sending messages to the list. I have appended some guidelines to the end of this message. I would be glad to answer any questions about the mailing list or help with subscription problems . I can only help with the mailing list. I do not administrate COMP.SYS.HANDHELDS. Subscriptions to the mailing list are handled by MAILSERV@GAC.EDU or MAILSERV@GACVAX1.BITNET. If you need the intervention of a human send mail to POSTMASTER@GAC.EDU or POSTMASTER@GACVAX1.BITNET.
