[comp.sys.handhelds] INTRO TO HP28S A01

jmazo@casbah.acns.nwu.edu (Jacob Mazo) (11/30/90)

Hello !

I am rather new to this calculator. Actually, I got it BECAUSE someone else could not learn how to use it. So far, I have read both of the manuals (Owner's Guide and Reference Manual). I have learned everything I could from them. However, it seems that the calculator is rather slow (I do a lot of algebra and calculus on it). In the Reference Manual, I was cautioned in what I saw as strong language (for a manual) from ever using the SYSEVAL command. The only one permissible to be used, according to th

e same manual, is << # 10d SYSEVAL >>. I tried this, with expected results. I get Version 2BB, and the Copyright message of HP for 1986 and 1987. Now, I saw all of you people on the net doing all sorts of programming. Some of the commands I see do not seem to produce any effect on my HP (e.g. the program with a lot of OFF commands , looked a bit like this: <<OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF>>. I do not know, about this calculator, any more than is supplied in the manuals that came directly with it. There

fore, I ask that all of you who (as far as I see) know so much more on the subject than I do, FILL ME WITH KNOWLEDGE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE !

I NEED IT ! However, please take into account that previously, in high school, I almost FAILED a programming class. I would make as good a programmer, myself, as a cow would make a ballet dancer.

I would like to learn how to get the most of this calculator (which, as far as I can see, is a wonderful machine).

Now, I am waiting to be made wiser, smarter, and generally filled up on HP28s knowledge. (Please do not cruelly mislead me).

P.S. Please excuse me for possible spelling, grammatical and any other errors (I am new both to the net and to this country).
I'm (symbolically) holding my breath !
