I have a question about closing the serial port on the 48SX. The manual says that it should be closed after use to avoid draining the battery. It also suggests that in many cases, opening it explicitly is not required for correct operation. I would like to know what circumstances if any will cause the serial port to be closed. Some examples in particular that I'd like to know about are: Turning off the calculator (and does the port remain off after the calculator is turned back on). Calculator turning itself off after timeout. Terminating kermit server mode with the finish command on a remote kermit. Terminating kermit server mode with the attention key. Terminating an interactive kermit session by moving out of the I/O menu. Any others I missed? John Diamant Software Engineering Systems Division Hewlett Packard Co.
