In order to get DTE48 to work, either prepend %%HP: T(3)A(R)F(.); immediately before the string (don't remove any of the linefeeds at the end of the line) or _after_ downloading the string, remove the carraige returns (but _not_ the linefeeds) from the end of each line (they will look like a black box). The HP uses only a linefeed at the end of a line. Translate mode 3 (T(3)) causes the HP to automatically strip the carriage returns while downloading. The original instructions weren't too clear, but if you look at them again you will note that this was the intended process. Rob
