[comp.sys.handhelds] SOS!!!! I NEED HELP NOW, BADLY!!!!!

mazova@sally.acns.nwu.edu, also jmazo@casbah.acns.nwu.edu (Jacob Mazo) (01/04/91)

I am having a serious problem. (this is a big understatement).

I got a copy of Tetris for the HP28S, and installed it. Later, I executed another program (even without the SYSEVAL command), and the screen went blank, (due to CLLCD command at the beginning of the program), the "BUSY" annunciator turned on, and that is the way the calc stays for 6 (six) hours now.

Now, I have tried to revive it after several hours. What I did was trying pressing "ON" button. Nothing happens for several minutes. Then, I try "ON-up.arrow several times. Nothing happens for several more minutes. I tried "ON-C" too. Nothing!!!!!!!!!!

Then, I have attempted to change display contrast (before, I could do that without disrupting the running program). That too does not work. I am led to believe, therefore, that the problem is that the keyboard is at fault (it may have switched or cut itself off [no physical damage]).
I need to use this calc NOW. I have not tried a full-blown Memory Reset, as I would still want to salvage whatever is possible, as I have a lot in there, especially with ARC.

Please, SEND YOUR HELP FAST!!!!!!
I need it.

Try the ON-ENTER-<= sequence to turn your calculator off (that is the ON,
ENTER, and the backspace (the one that has swap on top)). This normally
turns the hp28s off.
