I have to agree with the comments mike made: Wonderfulness is a personal preference... I hate the command processor... I am relatively new to the UNIX environment, and I have to admit I like it. Previously I had found the p-System command processor preferable to CP/M, RSX, RSTS etc. that I had used, (& I still do). But for the word processing that I generally use my micro for, the ability to use pipes and filters would be EXTREMELY desirable, and the equivalence of command files and programs also is a major step forward. For someone with a substantial background in O/S internals I think changing the command processor is possible. It is essentially an entry in a library, however the interfaces are not documented anywhere. I have plans to change to a simple shell. My main problem at this point is that I don't want to implement pipes on disk (the way I believe the "shell"s on CP/M do it) but I don't see much choice without bankswitching or some other such exciting internal twiddling. If anybody has heard of an improved command processor, I would like to hear about it. Thanks for the comments. Flames, comments, etc to: (..decvax!utzoo!utcsrgv!mason) .../Dave
