-- Greetings and salutations, I bought a 48 in December of last year. I have been well satisfied with it thus far. I am a student here at N.C. State University in EE. I have within the past couple of days accessed the HP BBS via Internet. The reaction time between here and there is gastly slow so I have decided to get the bulk of the info off of FTP sites and THE HP mail server. This is all well and good, but I am stumped as to how to download to my 48. I am working on a Ultrix-based system DECstation 2100 workstation in an environment that was modelled after MIT's Athena. Anyway, I mailed several syops, and anyone that I thought would know what to do. ... No luck. The head guy said that was the weirdest question he had gotton all month and had no answer. This was not good news. Nonetheless I first looked at <comp.sys.handhelds> just an hour ago and have aready seen some great info. To the questions, What cable do I need to connect the DEC station and my 48? I am not familiar with what port is what back there. And then when I get that worked out, what is the Unix command to send from said port, and like commands and man pages? Are the Grapevine books that are advertized in EduCalc worth the money? I have had a number of problems with the manuals that come with the 48. They just do clarily things as well as I like. Lastly, could someone send me a complete list of FTP sites that archive 48 stuff. As an aside, I need to download from the DEC, because I have not a PC and no easy access to one. Well, that should do it for now. Thanks, Bill -- Wm P. Madden, Jr. North Carolina State University - Raleigh, N.C.
