I'd like to have a demonstration program to show people what the HP-48 can do. It would save me time when people ask me what it can do or why I would buy something so expensive. I'm thinking of something which will be mostly automatic, rather than interactive -- a continuous display of a tour through the 48's capabilities. Given the extent of those capabilities, it may also be desirable to have it partially menu-driven, so that specific areas can be selected. So I'm soliciting ideas. If they turn out to be interesting enough, maybe I'll put something together. Please send me ideas for what capabilities should be featured AND how that should be done -- what is a neat graph to show, what looks nice in the Equation Writer, what menu keys will be the most thought-provoking, how can the concept of objects be represented, et cetera. Also, does Hewlett-Packard have any demonstration software already? -- edp (Eric Postpischil) "Always mount a scratch monkey." edp@jareth.enet.dec.com

Eric Postpischil asks about HP48 Demo programs: Hewlett-Packard have/had a demo ROM for the HP48. The Demo ROM has all of the features asked for: automatic continuous display of features partially menu-driven so that specific areas can be selected etc ...... The ROM demonstrates: Memory Expansion Capabilities I/O Capabilities EquationWriter Symbolic Math Plotting HP Unit Management HP Solve Input/Output I am not sure if/how you can get this ROM. I suppose a call to HP would be a good start! _______________________________________________________________________________ Graham Fraser CocoNut => HalfNut => Titan => Orlando => Paladin => Charlemagne => ????? _______________________________________________________________________________ Disclaimer: I do not work for HP, I just get to use their equipment.
