I'm going to write an article for a HP28/48 user group in Sweden, and I want to get as much facts as possible. If anyone knows anything about HP (doesn't have to be something about handhelds - in fact I'm most looking for other kinds of info), please email me. ANY info is appreciated. Rumours are welcome, just tell me that it's a rumour. Some examples of what I'm interested in: What did David Packard and William Hewlett do before they started HP? How did they meet? What were the first products of HP? In what ways has HP changed during the years? Are there any funny stories about HP? What books are written about HP? Anything else that I want to know? Please include any sources to your info if you know where it comes from, or where I can get it confirmed. If it is a rumour, please tell me. I'm not sure if I'll read this newsgroup - it depends on how much time I can spend, so please try to email me first: f90angu@fy.chalmers.se Thanks in advance, Andreas Gunnarsson -- ============================================================================== 73 es 88 de SM7TLS f90angu@fy.chalmers.se Andreas Gunnarsson ==============================================================================

Andreas Gunnarsson asks for stories and rumors about Misters Hewlett and Packard, and their company's history. There are many anecdotes and historical oddities about HP mentioned in the book "In Search of Excellence" by Thomas J. Peters and Robert H. Waterman, Jr., published by Harper & Row in 1982. Joe Horn

In Computer Design, January, 1991, there's the cover story, "30 Years in the Transformation of Electronics and the World." This story may help with research as far as some of the chips/systems HP worked on. If this isn't what you were looking for, I'm sorry. I think it's a very interesting article, though, and HP is certainly mentioned...Scotty.
