[comp.sys.handhelds] RPLC & its availability

cloos@acsu.buffalo.edu (James H. Cloos) (02/05/91)

Given my previous posts on the subject, I feel compelled to relate to the
(c.s.h.) world the current status of my RPL compiler. Due to situations
beyond my control, my previous work on rplc was pretty much wasted. I have
since restarted. It will now be a preprocessor to Jan's star. I expect
the beta version to be available to all who want a copy by the end of
February. (In all likelyhood, the beta version will simply take a src file
with the extension .rpl and output a file w/ the extension .star, which can
be used as src to star. I will wait until later to set up a full-fledged
rplc command (I expect similar functionality to cc, complete w/ its
interactions w/ the assembler.)

I'll most likely post the beta version. It will come with a gnu-type
copyleft.

(I should also notet that I intend to use a symbols file which has the same
syntax as sad .symbols files; thus the combination of sad, star & rplc will
facilitate a fairly robust production environment, though not (yet) quite
so robust as HP's development system.)

I appologise for the delay from my previous estimates, but this version
will be more powerful than the previous, so it should be worth the wait.
