[comp.sys.handhelds] The Power of Electronic BBSs

Jake-S@cup.portal.com (Jake G Schwartz) (02/05/91)

Ever since March 6th, 1990 I've been capturing every HP-related posting
from here and saving it on disk, as well as printing it out for reference for
our local user group. I've just filled my ninth binder with stuff. What's
so amazing to me is that more material has appeared here in comp.sys.hand-
helds since 3/6/90 than all the printed material from all the U.S. calcu-
lator club newsletters from their inception back in 1974 (which I also have
in binders). The electronic medium has indeed allowed us to advance further
faster and to share things more quickly than ever. Hopefully, this hasn't
made the HP48 passe prematurely for the readers here. A year from now there
will probably be as many more advances on the machine as were made to this
point. The third-party hardware toys cannot be too far behind. (Actually,
we already have two different disk drives, an EEPROM card programmer and
several surveying instrument interfaces. Could a port extender be in our
near future?)

    Keep up the good work.
