[comp.sys.handhelds] Smith Corona 32K RAM cards

Ok.. After talking to someone who has sucessfully used one of these cards,
I want to know if they are safe. I of course ran down to Walmart and picked
up one of these cards for $23.84 before tax. I tested it in the store as
Mark Amos said that he had gotten a couple that didn't work. (You should have
seen the look on the Electronics guy's face ;) I goofed and put the battery in
backward so it told me that the battery was low, but I bought it anyway because
it worked fine when the Calc was on. When I got home, I of course noticed that
the battery was in backward. (Partially, because I just got my second 128K
card today and looked at its battery)

As it stands now, the Smith Corona card works merged or free with absolutely
no complaints. The only reason that I got it, is that I would like to be able
to use it to transfer data between hps. 2400 baud IR is pretty slow, 9600 baud
wire between hps is better but NOTHING can beat dumping 16K from one calc to
another in a matter of seconds with a RAM card. I have also thought that it
might be useful to put my various libraries on one of these cards for backup
purposes.

So.. are they safe? Does anyone know how I might test them, or who I might
call? I don't suspect that hp has much to say favorably about them.
