Unfortunately, that same screening process you refer to
should also find the 6 Mhz parts and drop them in the
rip-off price bin.  You must buy the highest grade-out
available, and even then it's not a sure thing, since
manufacturers may even then sell the very fastest parts
by special arrangement.

If you want faster parts than are normally available,
it can try doing your own sorting, or you could ask
the manufacturer.  Either way is not going to give you
a bargain.

Incidentally, I've heard that at least one chip manufacturer
was filling contracts for plastic packaged parts
with ceramics, due to resource limitations.
The best part is that when the resources became
available and later orders were filled with plastic parts,
the orders were suddenly switched to ceramic parts.
