Article numbers are unique to each news site (for example, this article is 2204 in comp.sys.handhelds at this site, but almost certainly isn't at yours). News is propagated worldwide, which also means that you shouldn't simply repost ASC when the article containing it expires at the BBS, as someone said they would do -- I'm sure I speak for many when I say that I already have enough copies of it.
