On the 28 there was a code bit in memory that controlled the speed and the machine set itself near the middle to conserve battery power. in a word, no. this has come up before, often. This would be a good thing to put into the FAC list. You can't do it with the 48 because it's timer is wired at high speed, the 28s was fully programmable.
