In particular, Custom Service Software (of California) will let you look
at the documentation and demo disk (if any) for a month, then give you a
full refund if you return everything with the program disk still sealed.
They'll also sell you the program unsupported for a 10% to 15% discount,
and let you upgrade to full support later for the difference in price.
I don't know anything else about them, so this isn't a recommendation,
but their phone number is 1-213-559-0661 (Culver City, CA).  If anyone
has experience with them, I'd like to hear about it.

	It seems pretty worthless to test out a limited
  capability version of the target software.  Often
  the biggest problem with software ( assuming that it
  works at all) is severe limitations such as maximum
  file sizes, etc.
