[comp.sys.handhelds] Chip stuff...etc.

sternlie@eniac.seas.upenn.edu (Paul E. Sternlieb) (03/05/91)

How do I play games like blinky (pacman) and sub.m+m. I d/l them and
run them and just get text on the screen. Do I have to compile them
with chip or something? How do I do that?
Thanks.

Also, why is it when I make a TIFF file into a grob it gets really
large?

I'll ask you the same question I asked Paul Wareham: HOW BIG IS YOUR
PICTURE? A picture as big as the 48's display, 131 x 64 pixels, takes 1098
bytes when stored as a grob, and 2193 bytes when stored as a string. A
300 x 200 pixel picture takes 7610 bytes when stored as a binary, and 15K
when stored as a string.

A question like "why does TIF2GROB make such a huge file" is difficult to
answer unless you can tell us how big the picture is.
