Gee, lets see if I follow the thread so far.
ian says he will pay for an upgrade.
   ray thinks this is funny
   ian gets upset
ray calls ian humorless, and compares CU students to SU students in terms
     of humorlessness
ian feels that he should slight SU even more.

I for one would argue that Stanford Students have a great sense of humor.
We always get a chuckle over Ray's postings about why people shouldn't
get an upgrade. Sorry Ray, cheap shot. (It was only meant in fun,
so lets not start up a huge flame war. Ray and I just have different
views on this issue, but I do respect his opinion.)

Now, for those of you that like humor, take a look at sci.math.symbolic.
There is a great review of the Wolfram vs Kahan debate, and a guy
who is comparing the HP48SX vs mathematica. (The HP48sx is a great
machine, but it can't compare to mathematica.)

Oh, for those of you that liked mines on the hp48sx, there is a similiar
game for Xwindows available on calvin.stanford.edu. (I know it isn't
for the hp48sx, but I thought some of the readers might like an X
windows version.)

PS. Okay, Ray and ian might be right about humorless Profs. You will
notice that my machine's name is calvin and the other machine in my office
is called hobbes. (We named them after the comic strip of course.) Well,
when I told my advisor that our machines were called calvin and hobbes,
he asked if we were going to call all of our machines after great
protestant reforms. (He was serious!)
