The Commodore 64 was/is on sale at Crazy Eddie's on Rt 18, NJ, for 419.
Thats good enought for me - mines on order now!

There is a chain of stores in this area (central Illinois) that put an
ad in our Sunday paper selling the c64 for $399. I don't know how far this
chain extends.  Rumor has it that the price will soon be less than that
(maybe $350?) in a couple of months.  Oops, almost forgot, the store name
on the ad was Target.  For the price, I don't think anyone can come close to
matching what commodore is selling...

   Target is a subsidiary of Dayton-Hudson corporation based here in
Minneapolis.  They are in the process of becoming a national chain but
are mostly centered in the Midwest right now (I believe).
   (Dayton is of the family of Mark Dayton, famous for spending $7,000,000+
of his own money last fall to try to be a Minnesota senator...but he lost)
