Folks, we are not yet voting, so if you think that posting your vote accomplishes anything, you are mistaken. If you are opposed to the split, and want to let us know WHAT YOUR REASONS ARE, this is useful, as it is still possible to affect the proposal. If you just like to think that another person saying "no split" will disuade us from issuing the CFV, you are mistaken. It just consumes bandwidth that is already strained by this discussion. Does anyone know when the vote is going to be? Also, doyo anyone know what name
is currently in the lead as the one that is going to be voted on?
Personally, I will vote against something like c.s.h.hp and for something like
c.s.h.hp48 or c.s.h.hp2848 or c.s.h.rpl (my favorite). C.s.h.hp solves the
current problem for somepeople (ie casio, sharp users) and dosen't help some
people (ie hp users of non hp28 and 48 machines).

So what exactly IS the current proposal under debate? I've seen suggestions for comp.sys.hp48goawayanddon'tbotherus (or whatever it's called), and a couple of suggestions (including mine) for a complete reorganization of comp.sys.handhelds into subgroups for each type of handheld. I can see that there is a problem, but simply moving the HP48 off into another group doesn't seem like a good solution to me, and I'll vote against that type of "fix". The 48 is a handheld, so it seems to me that it should remain under the c.s.hh umbrella. Concerns about new handhelds appearing and obsolete handhelds vanishing are valid, and need to be dealt with too. -- Blaine Gardner @ Evans & Sutherland 580 Arapeen Drive, SLC, Utah 84108 blgardne@javelin.sim.es.com or ...dsd.es.com!javelin!blgardne DoD #0046 My other motorcycle is a Quadracer. The answer is, Chris Spell is submitting the CFV which he wrote, and which Alonzo Gariepy and I contributed. The vote does not begin until it is officially posted in .newgroups; at that time I will activate an account on my VAX (handhelds@vax.anes.tulane.edu) for sending your votes. DO NOT SEND VOTES TO THAT ACCOUNT NOW!!! They will bounce back to you, and will not be counted. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE CFV. Put your vote in the subject line, as it reduces the amount of work for me immensely. We (Alonzo, Chris, and I) have tried to pull the proposal together as quickly as possible to avoid the sort of thrashing about of "When's the vote", but these things take time, and we all have actual jobs which require the occaisonal illusion of our participation, if not enthusiasm. Oh, come on! Get your priorities straight! What's more important - your 48 or food on the table? ;) ;) ;) ;)
