O.K. here it is, the new Tetris, version 2.1. First of all, the feature list for those new and old users and players of Tetris. 1) IN addition to the Tetris game itself, we have the following assorted add-ons. 2) A cool background screen, with the score counter, lines counter, and a next piece view toggled by N on the Hp's kwyboard. 3) Top 5 High-scores saved with prompt for name and display of high-scores. 4) An off key which turns the calculator off. Upon being turned on again, the game continues from where you left off. A quit key which lets you stop playing, but saves your high-score (and prompts for your name,). 5) Various bugs of the preevious Tetris have been fixed. 6) A Help key 7) A Erase High-scores function. O.K> that was the various features of the previous Tetris, or at least the important things I remembered. For Tetris2, here are the updates: 1) A true Pause function which lets you pause the game, and resume normal calculator operations (all of them, except for starting a new game of Tetris with the same copy). Oh, wait, it's in Help, but just in case, N toggles the next key, O turns the calculator off, P pauses the calculator, and Q quits the game when playing. When you paused the game, press RESU to resume. 2) Screen Dissolving. Compliments of Joe Ervin, the game now dissolves from screen to screen. Takes place when you start the game, when you display high-scores, and when you quit the game. 3) ON-key trap. If you press ON during the game, you will almost immediately exit (no noticeable time-gap) but everything will be clean-uped, like the stack. 4) Various bug fixes and minor things. SOme of these include the calculator being able to turn itself off if left in one of the infinite loops ( until you press a key) like are found in the HELP screens, or HIgh-scores display. Another fix is that I changed the way that the delay is handled. The end result is that the keys feel easier to use. Now, here are the changes for version 2.1 1) The cool thing about Wickes' library is that if you do it right, you can have it permenantly embed itself into your program. The ON-key error trap occurs even if you don't have Wickes' IFERR library installed becasue the library is in the Tetris game. 2) Customizing of the dissolving routines through the list DLST. The list found in DLST (first var. of the second row) contains three numbers. The three numbers correspond to the 3 locations in which a screen dissolve takes place: the beggining, the high-score display, and the end. A 0 indicates that no dissolve takes place, a 1 indicates that a bit-wise dissolve, which tkaes 4.2 s will tkae place, a 2 indicates that a "tiling" effect dissolve takes place, which takes 1 s to do. Ot Other things: The program has been stripped of the << and >>'s, so don't eidt the programs unless you know what you're doinIf you edit a variable which contains one of these stripped programs, the probram could get messed up. The version of Tetris is kept in the About program. Keep the About program when you trnsfer Tetris. Actually, keep the whole program intact please. When referring to Tetris, make sure that you state which version it is. This is the official version 2.1 of Tetris, as far as I know the only Tetris out, except for Tetrisx. Instructions: Download the following, store it in your calculator, and ASC-> the whole thing. Then simply store it in a variable. Becasue the file is 13k in ASCII form, make sure you have plenty of room. I tried it with my Ramcard unattached, but with the calculator virtually empty. It worked fine. If you run across a time when you don't have enough memory, I also posted a Smaller version of Tetris which doesn't have any of the cool things of its bigger brother, but does have the pause key, the ON-key error trap, and the score and line counter. It is only 3300 bytes small. That version is called SmTetris. I don't see me makeing updates for it , that's the point, its' gonna stay small. That is it. Thanks for the ASC'ed version of Tetris2.1. This was the first time I could just download and run a tetris!
