Hello ppl Well, it looks like the new HP48 group went through (and by a sizeable proportion too..) Does the owner fo the comp.sys.handhelds<->internet gateway have anything to say about the question of us people on the internet end of the gateway getting the new 48 group? the 48 stuff is the only real reason I get this group.. tahnx! I would be interested in knowing how many people would be interested in a mail gateway to the new HP48 groups. Are people interested in both new groups or just one of them. How many people will be leaving the handhelds mailing list now that the HP48 postings will be gone. Please send e-mail to "dan@gac.edu" and tell me what you think. Your responses will help me make up my mind. I see several problems with being a gateway for the new groups. The first problem is that there already is a HP mailing list. I would not feel right about starting another without first asking that mailing list if it were interested in being gatewayed to comp.sys.hp48. If they are, the best people to do it would be the maintainers of the HP48 mailing list at VM1.NODAK.EDU. Comp.sys.handhelds is the only group that I gateway. I started the gateway at the request of a Gustavus computer user. Comp.sys.hp48 and comp.sys.hp48d would be two more groups. Comp.sys.hp48's moderated status could present additional problems for the gateway software, although I am sure I could work it out. It is best if the moderator of moderated groups runs the associated e-mail gateway. The gateway is run on my own spare time. Computer time is being donated by Gustavus with the understanding that it does not affect the users of the system the gateway is running on. -- Dan Boehlke Internet: dan@gac.edu Campus Network Manager BITNET: dan@gacvax1.bitnet Gustavus Adolphus College St. Peter, MN 56082 USA Phone: (507)933-7596

It will be just as easy to mail the messages to people as it is to post the message to the net. Anyone wanting to receive the posts by mail please send me a message. I would like to be included in both groups: the HP48 as well as Lines: 1 all other HandHelds. Thanks for your help.
