Just saw an ad in the Boston Globe today for C-64's on sale at $149.88 (after Commodore's $100 rebate). That's right, no typo, $149.88!! The store was a small outfit in Arlington, Mass. by the name of Video Horizons. I called to verify the ad. They confirmed the price and gave me the impression that Commodore would be dropping prices such that a normal price for the C-64 would be about $250. They (Video Horizons) had managed to get an "advanced delivery" at the new price and were able to offer them for sale while the rebate offer was still in effect. They are also offering both the 1541 Disk Drive and the 1525 Dot Matrix Printer for sale for $269.88. Sigh........... After hanging on for months, I finally broke down two weeks ago and got my C-64 for $299 after rebate. Oh well...... Ted Baker (TBaker.micro@BBNF)

From: Mabry Tyson <Tyson@SRI-AI.ARPA> There are at least two local stores (south SF bay) that are carrying the C-64 for $200 (before rebate). One person went to buy one about 45 minutes after the store opened this morning and found he will be the 14th person to get one when it the next shipment arrives in a week. For those who don't know, the rebate requires a video game system or home computer to be sent to Commodore. In return you get $100 back. The rebate ends June 15. (At least the C-64 must be purchased by then. It isn't clear whether your rebate request must be mailed by then or not.) -------

Re: C-64 prices: Child World is now advertising that you can put a c-64 on layaway until after the rebate is over, at which time you will pay $200 for it. N. R. Fildes, Bell Labs, Whippany, NJ.
