I have tried unsuccesfully to open my HP 15C enough to clean the screen. I have removed the screws under the rubber feet, and can see the golden p.c. board. There is a metal bracket that (I think) is holding the pc board to the front half of the case. How does one remove the keypad part of the case, and clean the lcd display and glass window. You can not remove the keyboard PCB from the case. It is held down by melted tabs of plastic called "hot-stakes". I suggest you use a can of compressed air to blow dust from the calculator as you now have it. The metal can you mention is holding the LCD in electrical contact with the PCB.
