[comp.sys.handhelds] CMT ram card pricing?

oistony@ubvmsd.cc.buffalo.edu (Anthony Petro) (04/28/91)

i recall seeing a post here a few weeks ago to the effect that CMT was
lowering their list price on the 128K card to $149, and that EduCalc
was going to change their price "later this month."

then about a week later, someone posted saying that EduCalc had indeed
lowered their price to $109.

i called the order line last night and the woman who took the call was
quite clueless; she said the price was $149 just like it says in the
catalog and was completely unaware of any plan to change it. i guess
it's my fault for calling a toll-free order line at such an odd hour
(12am est, 9pm pst is their time, i think) but i was hoping the rumor
was true.

does anyone know anything about this? if it is true, when will it
take place? is there another firm that has already lowered their
price for the card? and you who posted that EduCalc lowered their
price, whom did YOU speak to, so we can all gang up on him/her...

those 256K, 512K cards sound great but are too rich for my blood,
especially while still vaporware...

anthony m. petro "beethoven" i can say what i want; i'm just an undergrad

I cannot say anything about the CMT 128K cards, but I just bought a
HP 128K card, and the amount I was charged was $159.95 instead of the
$194.95 the catalog 51 (which came with the card) claims for the
HP card. Since the $159.95 is only $10.00 more than the price in that
same catalog for the CMT card, I would assume that they must be
lowering their price on both, unless they gave me a special price becuase
they sent me a 32K card first, which I had to return to get the 128K
card that I had ordered. I don't think that is the case however, because
they subtracted the 32K card's price from the $159.95.

I was the one who said EduCalc was selling the CMT cards for $109. I
said that because that's what I paid for mine. I don't know whyu they
quoted you a higher price because they've been telling everyone else
since late March that the price was going down "after" April 15. On the
16th, I bought my CMT card for the reduced price. I suggest calling
back.

Maybe you should call them direct and avoid the 800 number!

Or use the 800 number that goes directly to EduCalc!
(800)677-7001
Note that this number goes to the same place as the (714) number Kevin
mentioned, it does not go to the order service.

I almost never use the order service 800 number, as I would rather call
the store and ask questions and find out about availability.
