>I saw that you have the EE card. I haven't seen anybody talk about those >and I thought I had been reading this group very carefully. How is it, >what is it like, what are some of your favorite things that are included >on it??? Just wondering. I think I want to get one this summer if it sounds >like it is worth it. Thanks > >Jeff Smith >jeffs@matt.ksu.ksu.edu >JEFFS@KSUVM > Somebody else asked also so I'll post my response to him on the net. It's okay but not everything I expected it to be. The applications it covers are mainly basic circuit theory. It has equations for two-port newtorks , a table of laplace transforms (it can't do them just has a table), a table of fourier transforms, equations for solid state devices, motors, generators, OP-AMPS (the OP-AMP equations are all non-ideal which means you can use them for ideal work but it is kinda difficult), transmission line calcualtions, basic element calculations (for instance the resistance of a certain length of wire), simple DC circuits, RL and RC and RLC circuits, resonance, transformers, and simple AC circuits. It also does ladder network analysis. Its a long list but everything on it takes only a few kestrokes to accomplish by hand or a pretty simple program (once you have the multi equation solver on WAYNE'S mail server. Which incidentally is alot better than the one on this card) The best part of the pckage is the FFT algorithm which is quite fast. If I have time in a couple of days I'll post the menus so you can see more of What it can do. We are into finals week here so I might not have time. Also Grapevine used to have a book that had a program for the HP28 that was Kind of like a Spice package (a weak one mind you). I kind of expected that with 128K and a more powerful machine something like this would have been included but nope. It almost seems as if they left certain things out because they feared college officials might be bothered by them. Too bad, when you start worring about pleasing the administration you screw up every time. Heck if the instructor didn't like me having it just make us pull the card during tests. No problem. ====================================================================== ___ I__) _ _I _ _ Tim Strong <TDSTRONG@MTUS5.cts.mtu.edu> I \ (_I (_I (_I I Michigan Tech. I agree with what was just said about the EE card.. It is not all that I expected.. Considering that it is only 9 months late, I figured that it was going to be one really nice version of spice or something like that.. But after fairly minimal inspection it appears pretty tame. It almost looks like it was written in User RPL as it is not all that fast.. The Equation Library card is much smoother and faster.. The thing that I noticed about this one that I found a bit odd was when going through a menu and marking an item it redraws the screen everytime you place a little marker.. Not all that fast.. Unfortunately, I have a hard time gettin excited about it considering that my Circuits final was Saturday. :-( I suppose I will get into it next semester and I am sure that if I find that I don't want it, I can find someone who will be interested.. ;) I will also see if I have time to post the menus at some point if noone beats me to it. ian -=Runaway Daemon=-p
