Atari seems to be trying to compete directly with the c64 market. Just saw an ad in Byte - $289 US for a 48K Atari 800!!! (including Atari $100 rebate). If you want a really neat micro... (with lots of software around)... Has anyone successfully bypassed the RF modulator in an Atari 400 and used it with a color or b&w composite video monitor? There was a simple emitter follower circuit in the July Computers and Electronics, and it seems to work, but I am getting very low brightness (on a Zenith green-screen b&w monitor - could this be the reason?). Does anyone know if the signal on pin 4 of the 400's RF modulator is real color composite video?
