[comp.sys.handhelds] Progress on RFD: split/splinter comp.sys.handhelds

mandel@vax.anes.tulane.edu (Jeff E Mandel MD MS) (05/29/91)

Just to keep everyone up-to-date, a short note.
A certain amount of discussion has gone on off-line amongst those of us who
have the most froth dripping from our fangs, and we are working out the details
of the CFV. Esentially, we are attempting to agree to disagree, and construct a
vote which permits people to vote in an orthogonal vector space, as it were.
Thus, if you believe there should be a group for palmtops, but handhelds should
be left alone, or there should be an HP48-only group and handhelds should be
otherwise uns=disturbed, or whatever else you might want, there will be an
unambiguous way to vote.

As this proposal will attempt to be all things to all people, and will rival
War and Peace in its scope, it may take a few days before you see it, but you
can use the time to prepare yourselves for the sheer ectasy :-) :-)

Thought for the day: "You want me to get my head examined? And just what do
expect my asshole to do in the meantime?"

Kind of jumping the gun, aren't you Jeff? You don't have the results
from the straw poll. You don't have agreement from the people in on the
private discussion, nor have you brought the discussion out into the
public light where these things are supposed to happen.

Is it just me, or does anyone feel that this whole 'split' discussion would
go better if people would spend less time taking cheap shots? Patrick, he
didn't say that he had agreement, he said that they are going to have a vote
that will allow the disagreeing groups to each party to vote for what they
want to. And I know that I speak for quite a few of us when I say that we
would much prefer if a good deal more of these discussions stayed out of the
public light. We are sick of this topic and would much prefer to go on with
something else.

Patrick, we all know that you disagree with Jeff, but tht doesn't mean you
have to insert any conspiricy theories into his postings.
