[comp.sys.handhelds] JOUST problems

das9674@usl.edu (Stephenson Daniel A) (06/21/91)

Hi there. Well, my HP48SX gave me an 'external' something or other message the other day when I pressed 'MEM' in the memory directory, as I wanted to see how much space I had lef to me.

Well, I then pressed ON-C (to try and clear things up-it bumped me up a level), and it asked 'Try and save memory?' or something like that! THAT ISN'T supposed to happen! Only ON-A-F, right? Well, said 'yes', and it wiped out the Hpiper and Joust in my ASC directory, and only left Tetris. AND: it renames Tetris directory 'DO.1" or somrthing like that. Whassup?!

WELL: I just ON-A-F'd and thought I'd d/l everythin over again. Well, Tetris works fine this time, but JOUST looks like he pixels are 4Xs as big! It look like something a TRS-80 would make. BTW, I don't know about Hpiper this time-I've decided it wasn't that great.

But ANYWAY: I PURGED Schip AND Joust again, and d/l again. The same thing happens!

Could this be because of a fouled program on disk? Or something to do with the ON-C memorything? This kinda worries me,....

I'd REALLY appreaciate an email or posting response.

Thank you-

Dan relates that he did an ON-A-F and then re downloaded his Joust and
other stuff. He then mentions that he thinks that Joust is foulded up or
something. Dan, remember the ol' Chip programs, before the advent of
Super-CHip? Thier resolution was half that of the Super-Chip games. I'd
take an educated guess that you downloaded Joust 1.0, the Chip string,
not Joust 2.x, the Super-Chip one. Simly download the new one next time.
BTW I'm glad that Tetris was recovered after your crash.
