If anyone else is tired to death with the latest round of nonsense in comp.sys.handhelds, drop me a line if you like to support alt.sys.hp48. I will create it if more than 25 people respond favorably. Don't post follow-ups to comp.sys.handhelds as they won't be read by me; I have unsubscribed for the foreseeable future. Alt.sys.hp48, if approved by 25 or more favorable replies (negative replies and flames will be forwarded to the bitbucket), will be dedicated to the discussion of any and all topics related to the HP-48 line of products from Hewlett-Packard. This currently includes the HP-48S, the HP-48SX, and peripherals. The newsgroup will have no moderation. Remember, a newsgroup is what its readership makes it to be! I understand that not all sites carry the `alt' branch; perhaps this measure will help inspire the net.clowns to actually stop talking and instead actually decide upon a `comp' newsgroup name for the HP-48 newsgroup. Any such group will replace alt.sys.hp48. If after this round of voting there is no HP-48 product line newsgroup, then I will announce an RFD to discuss the proper naming, followed by a call for vote. I will summarize replies to this poll in alt.sys.hp48 should it pass the threshold. -- Jan Brittenson bson@ai.mit.edu

Dear all, I feel impelled to write because I think that some steam-rolling is going on!!!! Jan, I can not recieve newsgroup information and so can not access your group even if I really wanted (which I do!). Chris (the person who put forward the proposal for the new groups), I am not trying to be obstructive but because I do not have access to newsgroups I do not know when it is alright to vote!!! This is serious!!! I do not want to waste my vote!!!! It seems to me that Jan and Chris have assumed that the only way people acces c.s.h is via newsgrops which is plainly not true. I am not annoyed with them personally, but I am annoyed (selfishly?) that I am excluded from vital (?) information. I wish to second the questions about what happens to c.s.h and its derivatives when they become official newsgroups too. Will I lose access to them as well? THESE QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ANSWERED. WE DO NOT ALL USE NEWSGROUPO Just my 3 nybbles Conrad
