Thanks, Jeremy for posting this information about the upcoming Corvallis conference. If Richard doesn't mail responses to the inquiries soon, the whole thing is going to backfire on him, with people not taking the event seriously. Jake Schwartz

Jake, Jeremy and all: Thanx for the reminder. I relayed your note to Richard Nelson, who jumped to his keyboard and knocked out the following: +--------------------------------------------+ | HP Handheld User's Conference '91 | | OSU - Corvallis, Oregon August 2-4, 1991 | | | | CONFERENCE FACT SHEET | +--------------------------------------------+ HP handheld users interested in having fun and learning about the latest advancements in the care, use, and why of HP handheld machines will be interested in attending a conference dedicated to serious information exchange. Printed proceedings are provided to all attendees. A fee is charged to cover expenses only; speakers with papers in the proceedings attend at no charge. A lunch is provided for two days of the formal part of the conference. Activities will include an HP Plant Tour on Friday, August 2nd. Friday is an informal day to register, visit local vendors, and socialize with new (and old) friends who share your serious interest in HP machines. Saturday and Sunday - ALL DAY - will be dedicated to Technical Presentations. There will be an HP Open Forum with a panel of HP engineers to answer all your specific questions regarding HP handheld machines - especially the HP 48 and HP 95. Other activities include door prizes, free handouts, demonstrations, and vendor exhibits. Get plenty of sleep BEFORE Friday. Bring your machines and discs for program swapping. Bring anything you may want to share with others including "horse trading" items. This is a rare opportunity to meet the people whose names you see in books, on the BBS, and in articles related to HP's machines. We selected this date to be convenient for HP. We have had two conferences at OSU, one in 1980 and one in 1988. Both were well attended and exciting. This one looks like it will be the best OSU conference yet. Interest is very high; we have two new machines, and the attendance will even include members from the UK Handheld and Portable Computer Club. Call Richard Nelson at EduCALC at (714) 582-2637 8-5/M-F for additional details. See you at at LeSELLS STEWART Center, Oregon State University, 875 SW 26th Street. Activities: FRIDAY: Register, get last minute details, maps, schedules, etc. at OSU LeSalls Stewart Center. Take HP Plant Tour. Vendors set up exhibits - See Vern. Attendees are invited to a dinner gathering hosted by the UK Handheld and Portable Computer Club. Get details and map when registering. Be sure to stop by OSU when you arrive in Corvallis. We will have facilities for copying programs, socializing, etc. SATURDAY: Open at 8 AM; sessions start at 9 AM. Introductions, papers presented. The HP Open Forum is not scheduled as yet, but will be in the afternoon on either Saturday or Sunday. Lunch provided about noon. Soft drinks and coffee included during the conference days. Stewart Center is scheduled to be open until 10 PM. We will either go late and break for dinner - each on their own - or we will break at a reasonable time and return with formal and informal presentations. Traditionally community issues and informal discussions occur during Saturday evening. SUNDAY: Open at 8 AM; sessions start at 9 AM. Ideally we would like the HP Open Forum in the afternoon, best speaker awards, door prizes, and conference wrap up. We try to get ideas for the next conference. The UK group is planning on a UK international Conference in 1992. Is it time to visit them again? Jake Schwartz is discussing with his group to see if once again we will have a conference in Philadelphia. Our last one in Philly was in April 1982. Speakers (early, partial list only): Lee Woodriff, Bob Moore, Jeremy Smith, Richard Nelson, Eric Vogel, Bill Wickes, Aaron Boonshoft, Greg Sanker, Jake Schwartz, Brian Walsh, Tedd Dickens, Nader Rahimizad, Vlodek Mier-Jedrzeowicz.
