Has anyone out there played with a 68008? this is supposed to be an
8 Bit version of the 68K with 1M address space and 8Mhz clock. Are
there any S-100 boards for this beastie? The specs are in Sept 7
1982 edition of Electronic Products and it seems to be about the
size of processor I need.

I have designed a 68008 board for the CMU Rover. Each processor has a
68230 (parallel interface/timer), 32K RAM/ROM (mix of 6164's and
2764's), a UART, and some Rover specific circuitry (a shaft encoder
interface and a FET motor driver). All the circuitry other than the
68008 and the 68230 is CMOS (mostly 74HC), so it draws very little
power. Best of all (for this application, at least), we can fit two
complete processor systems on one multibus card (note that it is NOT
multibus compatable, we just use the cards because they are convenient).
The 68008 runs at 8MHz.

The board is designed and wrapped, but I'm still waiting for Hitachi to
deliver on the 6164's ("any day now..."). If you're interested, I can
send you more info.
