It also says you can get an executable version of XLISP for the Mac.
Choose the tools conference and you can download arce.com which will
dearchive your files.
Since this was the first time I accessed a bulletin board it took me a while
to figure out what I was doing.
You get a bunch of messages saying
"attached to this message is an archive containing ..."
and then something saying "[QUIT or <CR> for next]?"
I finally figured out that if I typed DOWNLOAD at this point, I could

Could someone get this XLisp 2.1 and put it on an anon ftp site? I'd hate it if everyone had to join this bbs just to get the stuff. BTW: the syntax you described for the bbs reminded me of the bbs used by HP to distribute some of their calculator software. It was a very unfriendly experience.
