In Article 34 of comp.lang.forth.mac rotberg@dms.UUCP (Ed Rotberg) says: > MacForth (Creative Solutions) is a commercial Forth product, as is Mach II > Forth from Palo Alto Shipping. I have used both, but not for some time now, > and I really can't vouch for the state of their current compatability with > recent Mac systems. MacForth is a more traditional Forth environment, but > Mach II had some really nifty features like named parameter input, and standard > text file sourse instead of Forth Blocks. It was also, as I recall, a lot > cheaper than MacForth, and had excellent support. I am happly using MacForth with no troubles on a Mac IIci so I think they've done a good job keeping up with Apple. The MacForth development environment is also considerably improved from it earliest release. Source code in kept in normal files, the built-in editor can handle multiple open files, and interactive sessions can be run from an editor window thus providing a built in session history and other handy stuff. I haven't had occasion to use Creative Solutions support but they do have a Compuserve group and they're local for me. Also the owner (I think) of the company, Don Colbourn, is an active participant on ANSI Forth Committee and IMHO is a real smart guy that built a solid product.
