The following Tech Report from the Center for Complex Systems Research at University of Illinois is avaliable: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- CCSR-89-9 Problems in Complex Systems (Ph.D Thesis) Wentian Li Abstract: Five separate problems concerning nonlinear complex systems are studied in this thesis. Three of them concern studies of dynamical systems with spatial degrees of freedom and the remaining two concern dynamical systems in lower dimensions. The problems studied are (1) the spectra of regular languages with application to cellular automata, (2) the spectra of context-free languages and 1/f noise in open dynamical systems, (3) the structure of cellular automata rule spaces, (4) fractal dimension of Cantori, and (5) stabilizing and destabilizing effects of weighted time delay. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in having a copy, send check of $6.00 (to cover the printing and mailing cost, payable to "CCSR, University of Illinois") to Sue Berndt Center for Complex Systems Research Beckman Institute University of Illinois 405 North Matthews Street Urbana, IL 61801 For information on other CCSR Tech Reports, send Email to sue@complex.ccsr.uiuc.edu
