In Scientific American August 1988 Computer Recreations the hodgepodge machine was demonstrated. The behavior of this cellular automaton simulated heterogenous catalytic reactions "at the surface of thousands of tiny palladium crystallites dispersed througout a porous medium". But no referenecs were given of the work on the hodgepodge machine by Martin Gerhardt and Heike Schuster of the University of Bielefeld in West Germany. Can anybody give reference and/or e-mail addresses to persons involved in this research? Also interested in references to other CA which provide good models for the Zhabotinsky reaction. -- (Bear) Bj|rn Alsberg ! Net: bjornal@ifi.uio.no Universitetet i Oslo, Norway !
